Our municipal campsite Le Clos Marin is located in the Normandy region, a region rich in history and full of resources. It will offer you all kinds of entertainment to please both young and old. Set off to discover Normandy with ease, and escape with this true blend of land and sea It will charm you with its cities, activities, and a variety of events.
LE CHÂTEAU DE PIROU
The Château de Pirou is located 3 km from the campsite. You can get there by foot, bike, or car. You can visit a legendary building here.
The castle was built in the 12th century on an artificial island surrounded by three moats and five fortified gates. The defensive gates open onto an exceptional complex: the bakery, the press, the Plaids Room (with the Broderie de Pirou), the old residence (guardroom, dining room, kitchens), and the walkway with its beautiful slate roofs.
The very old legend of the geese of Pirou, one of the most popular in Cotentin, claims to link the origin of this castle to the Scandinavian invasions. Let yourself be surprised by this fabulous legend and immerse yourself in the medieval era to discover over nine centuries of history.
SHORE FISHING
From the campsite, you can go shore fishing at low tide thanks to its direct access to the sea. You can fish for all sorts of shellfish or fish there while respecting good fishing practices.
THE MARKET AND THE WHELKS FAIR
The market is located 900 meters from the campsite at Place Générale de Gaulle in Pirou-Plage.
It takes place on Sunday mornings all year round and on Wednesday mornings in July and August. You will find good local products there.
The Whelks Fair is one of the major events that takes place on the last weekend of April in Pirou.
This event spans two days and is organised around various themes: the sale of seafood by professionals, a local produce market, exhibitions in the multipurpose hall, a flea market, a funfair, a seafood evening, and an outdoor concert on Sunday afternoon.The whelks Fair takes place every year in April. It will be on the last weekend of April 2024.
MONT SAINT-MICHEL
Mont Saint Michel, a must-see tourist destination in Normandy.
Mont-Saint-Michel, located in the Manche department, is unique in being situated on a small island made of rock, in the middle of a stunning bay. This island witnesses and participates in some of the most significant tides in Europe. Mont-Saint-Michel, along with the surrounding bay, is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage site. This unmissable and exceptional site is located halfway between Brittany and Normandy and is 3.5hours from Paris. This is also one of the most visited places in the country.
