You can get there by foot, bike, or car. You can visit a legendary building here.<\/strong>&nbsp;<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"animation--top animation--init--once\" style=\"margin-top:0;margin-bottom:var(--wp--preset--spacing--60)\">The castle was built in the 12th century on an artificial island surrounded by three moats and five fortified gates. The defensive gates open onto an exceptional complex: the bakery, the press, the Plaids Room (with the Broderie de Pirou), the old residence (guardroom, dining room, kitchens), and the walkway with its beautiful slate roofs.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"animation--top animation--init--once\" style=\"margin-bottom:var(--wp--preset--spacing--60)\">The very old legend of the geese of Pirou, one of the most popular in Cotentin, claims to link the origin of this castle to the Scandinavian invasions.
